Emily Schrader, MA, LPC, CACIII, Executive Director

The Bar Zero, Inc. concept was imagined by Emily Schrader, Executive Director. Emily is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Addictions Counselor in the State of Colorado. Prior to entering the counseling field, she worked in restaurants from New York to Pennsylvania, to Colorado, serving in various roles. Emily first worked in kitchens as a line cook and kitchen manager, and soon after started waiting tables and doing some bar-tending and front of the house management. Emily attended culinary school at Colorado Institute of the Arts, completing half of the culinary program before deciding to, instead, study counseling at the University of Colorado at Denver. She graduated with a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology and Counselor Education in 2003. She continued to work in the restaurant business part-time, along with working a counseling job, after graduation. Over time, Emily realized she had a problem with substance use and eventually, got sober and started her recovery journey. Emily started working in the addiction field after she had a few years in recovery herself, in order to give back to the population with whom she had a shared experience. She has since had a passion in fighting stigma and in educating other professionals about addiction. Emily has worked for several non-profit organizations serving in the mental health and substance use arenas. She currently serves on the Board of Colorado Addiction Counselors as well as the Licensed Professional Counseling Board.
